Key Research Terminology
Task 1

After taking notes on your tutors explanation of key terminologies, complete the following handout:

What is a Primary source?
A primary source is a document that you have done yourself and done the research for in your own time.
Example
A survey or questionnaire.



What is a Secondary source?
A secondary source is research which was already done and taken of the internet from someone else’s work and using for yourself.
Example: Someone else’s work on the internet.


What is Market Research?
Market research is getting information of your audience to improve your work.
Example: survey. Asking people about their age, religion, gender.


What are Quantative results?
Quantative result is if it can be put into a graph
Example: e.g. yes no questions that can be put into a graph.


What are Qualitative results?
Is when you ask questions that give a variety of answers? Cannot be put in to a graph.
Example: asking a question that can give someone else’s opinion and not yes or no questions.
