Evaluation tips
Can be used for any evaluation.
1.Overview- For this project we where asked to.......
watched short films to get inspiration.
Individually we wrote proposals.
We where then put into groups, where we choose the best idea or combined the ideas if they where all good and could be combined.
2.Primary and secondary research. what did you do? why?- look in to directors and short films (why was this relevant to the project.
3.planning and Pre-production- Brainstorms, Ideas, plans, specific paper work.(story board)
4. Production- use key words- name the kit- what did you do-what kind of camera did you use, how did you set the camera up,- what settings did you use.
5. Post production - editing, finalizing work, adjustments. put on YouTube.
6. what would you do to improve if you had to do it again.
7.peer feed back to put on blog. (2 people minimum)

Filming Shoot 1
In today's session we had the opportunity to film the second scene of our short film which has our protagonist sat on the Stairs or the floor looking down, or too their head tucked into there Knees.
We filmed the scene 10 times in different locations and different Camera angles. we filmed about 3 scenes outside, 7 indoors in different places around the college.
We tried to get people to walk in front of the camera to make it look like it was busy but it just didn't look right so we left the camera rolling for a bit on the protagonist and waited for people to walk past in their own time which looked better but not many people walked past because they thought they be getting in the way.
When we filmed inside we looked for dark or Isolated areas, my favorite scenes that we did the filming at were the metal staircase near the maths room on the E floor, The sloped leading to the Media staff office and the spiral staircase near our class room E101.
W e will be recording the first scene and the other scenes in Grantham using films surrounding the area of my house and rooms of my house for scenes.

location filming experience
1/12/2015
We went about in groups in lesson and filmed at different locations for each group we did a bit of filming at a little park with our actor sitting on a bench we did from different angles and did it from different close ups, we then walked about and observed other people of the groups work. We then went and filmed on the spiral staircase next to our classroom and filmed it at different angles and close ups.
Things that didn't go according to plan.
It was raining.
We didn't get to film in the location we wanted to.
It was crowded.
It was loud.
what went to plan
The filming we did turned out well.
We worked well together.
discovered new locations that we could film at in other projects.
how i could improve it
If we where allowed to split into our groups and go our separate ways we would off been able to get our filming started and the majority out of the way (the rest will be done outside of college. there for we need to plan it out better so we can get more stuff done and have more time. we also need to think of our locations a bit better so we can go straight there instead of standing about.
Normaly you delete individual files, where as a format delets everything

Do the producer and director of the work own the rights or have they assigned them to a production company? You will need clearance before using the footage unless you can prove that the footage is incidental – e.g. if the footage is simply shown in the background of the shot.
Anything that is used/ appeared in your film must be cleared.
Copyright expires 70 years after the the death of the creator.
You can do a voice over using other peoples footage but what ever is being said has to be completely different from the original.

Use it if it's under 30 seconds (15-20 seconds) playing in the background and can't be taken out if it's okay.

In today's lesson we started and finished the storyboard for our short film,we also did the Shot List and The production schedule.
Shot list
Shot One: The first shot is in a dark and gloomy place where we use
a mid-shot on the actor so it will add more tension to the scene.
Shot Two: This scene is set in a corridor in a school/ college. we
are using a wide shot for this scene so it will allow the audience to see the
surroundings of the shot, this will add a sense of sympathy for the actor
because of what will be happening in the
scene.
Shot Three: In the room of the actor we are going to be using
another Mid-shot (From the side if possible) of the person sat on the bed, we
feel this might give a sense of suspicion. The other shot in this scene will be
a close up of a suicide note with smudged writing from the girls emotions of
feeling alone, this could allow tension and grab the audience attention.
Shot Four: We are going to use a steady cam (Camera is on the
tripod upside down following someone’s feet in a scene) this could allow
tension to reach a peak in the story line. We would also like to use a
crosscutting section to help build tension as well but nothing actually happens
leaving it a bit Anti-climactic Making you think it will end one way but ends
another.
Shot Five: Is set in a Field using a still long shot with a voice
over going over it, this can leave a little bit of closer but also leaves it as
an open ending leaving the audience wanting more.

Individual Proposal
Proposal.
My short film is about your true self or how people expect you to be. It will start off with someone walking and coming across a building, the person goes into the building and finds a hidden room that people don't know about (dark or dim lighting) the room is empty except for a single mirror. The person walks up to the mirror and looks into it. The mirror shows who you truly are (something you might be ashamed of or shunned by society) or who people think you should be how society see you (stereotyped) the reflection could be static or glitching because you are trying to push it back and not accept it. (Might have text appear on screen saying that the reflection is not you).After you see this you leave and think if they should tell someone about it but decide to keep it to yourself.

There will be 1-2 people in this short
film depending on how I set it out I might make the reflection look like the
person just wearing different clothes that might suit their true self, or
change the person completely in the reflection so it looks like a completely
different personality, The story will be a linear story with a single strand
and closed ending.
The effects I might use is static when we
see the reflection so it like the person is trying to forget or push it back (denying
who they are).Transition will be fading. The sounds will be diegetic and non-diegetic,
the diegetic sounds will be when they stumble or kick a can. And the
non-diegetic sound will be the background music playing when you see the mirror
and see your true self. (Violin music sad or drastic)
The film is aimed at 12+ it is suited for
all no matter what gender, sexuality, or religion it is for everyone to help
them realize they should except who they are and not deny it because in the end it will
only make them bitter.

Stereotypes
First thing we did was do a work sheet where we looked at some made up characters and stereotyped them to what films they would like by a small paragraph that they had describing them.
I’m Zak Jockington, I love all things American, hanging out with the guys, pulling pranks and sports
The next thing we had to do was take one of the things we like and stereotype ourselves with them e.g. Gamer,anime, film nerd.
I chose to do the gamer side of me which could be stereotyped as lazy and a bit of a geek.
The things that are media related to what I would get if advertised are stuff like consoles , old retro games or JRPG's.
Media uses stereotypes to pull people in of that stereotype even if there not like the stereotype at all and are completely different from what they are portrayed as.
Stereotypes link into our short film when we need to think of our target audience and how our movie can appeal to them so people are more likely to watch it who like that genre

currently taking a monster stage-makeup class with my friends.

Why?:The marvel universe which contains the silver surfer is the syfy fantasy action
comic and the syfy fantasy with star wars, also both theses genres have a lot
of different types of stage makeup for monsters with all the aliens and
monsters In it

- Multi-strand and Single strand Narrative ,
- No more then 3 actors
- 1-2 mins long
- Hybrid of genres (Multiple genres)
- Linear (Beginning, middle, end )
- Non Linear (Flashbacks)
- No formal dialogue, show don't tell, Monologue/voice overs
- Open ending (It could go on)
- Closed ending
- realist (could happen in real life)
- Anti-realist (couldn't happen in reality)
